First Mother's Day

My first official Mother's Day was great. We went to church in the morning and I received a carnation from Ashley. When she came back to our seats with it, she had it in her mouth. :)  She was ready to eat it, but we decided that wouldn't settle well on her tummy. After church we went to lunch with Awma, Lizzi, Jake, and our friends, the Martin's. After lunch we had a family afternoon nap, it was wonderful! Ashley was really tired, she slept for 2 and half hours. After naps we went to Aunt Cassie's for dinner with, well....everyone. My family was there as well as Awma, Lizzi, and Jake. We opened gifts...mom gave me a devotion book for moms, and Awma gave me a Starbucks gift card, Ashley and daddy gave me a ring. The ring is not actually here yet, it's on order, but it has Ashley's birth stone in it. I'm excited to see it when it arrives. It was a fun Mother's Day and I am so blessed to be mom to this sweet baby girl!

Happy Birthday Hudson

Cousin Hudson turned 3 and Aunt Cassie threw a big birthday party for him. It was called a Par-3 and was all about golf. It was at St. Hudson's and there was a driving range and a 4 hole mini golf course complete with a pinwheel hole, a gator hole with sand traps, a swinging log hole and a water hole. There was a hole in one bean bag game, a "Caddie's Corner" for a break and a snack. At the clubhouse there was lemonade and tea...club sandwiches, and lots of other food too. There was an awesome golf cake with golf (cake) balls on it. And a golf cart to give you a ride back to your car after the par3 was over. We had lots of fun!

Hudson had his very own cake!

First Tooth

Ashley has a tooth that is just barely peeking through! She's been sucking on her hands and my fingers a lot, well really anything she can get her hands on. I noticed this afternoon that I could feel that a tooth is starting to make it's way through the gums. I suppose it could stay like it is for awhile, but she's sure working on it and now we know she is making progress! I'm so excited about it, but it's another reminder that time is going so fast! We bought rice cereal at the store tonight, so we hope to start that in the next few days! We are all looking forward to it!

Another Quilt

Ashley received a gift from a friend last week. One of Awma's (Dianna) friends made her a quilt. I know she's been working on it for awhile, because around Christmas time I heard rumor that one would be coming our way. She makes beautiful quilts. It blows mine out of the water, but remember it was my first quilt :) Ashley loves it, it has pretty flowers and butterflies, and a little bumble bee. Her stitching work is very impressive too. She made butterfly and flower shapes for that too. She made a little spot on it with Ashley's birth info and her name. It's a very special gift and Ashley loves it!

Norwich

On Wednesday, daddy, Ashley and I took a mini road trip over to Norwich KS after work. Daddy needed to pick up some queen honey bees for one of his beehives and we decided to tag along. We went to Rowan's Honey Shop and they have a huge selection of honey products. They had lip balm, wrinkle cream, lotion, soaps (including Honey Goats Milk Soap...I know someone who might try and make this someday  :), they also had Honey jams, creamed honey, honey caramel sauce, honey fudge sauce, honey pecan syrup, honey bbq sauce, honey granola, and that's just what I can remember, there was lots of other things too. Nate has 7 bee hives. They could potentially make a lot of honey, we'll see if we get as adventurous as the Rowan's...they're making a living off of it! After we stopped at the honey shop, we went down to a little cafe and had dinner. Nate was holding Ashley while we ate and she had starting reaching for everything, so of course she was reaching for his food, and so he thought she needed some. So, Ashley got her first taste of food with some mashed potatoes. She barely got any in her mouth, and the little that did came back out when she decided she wasn't so sure what to do with it. We are excited to start baby food in the next month or so!

First Easter

Ashley had a great time at her first Easter.
On Saturday we went to Awma and Papa's and had an easter egg hunt with cousin Claira.

I made Ashley's Easter basket. It was really fun. It took some time, but wasn't very complicated and I think it turned out very cute. Hopefully next year she will carry it around and fill it with eggs herself! Although she did pretty good this year collecting eggs with mom and dad's help. She got $70 in her eggs! We decided to share it with those less fortunate (Uncle John- he only got $20).
On Sunday we went to church and celebrated Christ being raised from the dead. For lunch we went to Mimi's with all of our family. There were lots of people, food, and lots of pictures to be taken....
